Former Bachelorette Charity Lawson and fiancé Dotun 'delete' engagement posts for dramatic April Fools' joke
The couple that pranks together, stays together.
No need to panic, Bachelor Nation — Charity Lawson and Dotun Olubeko are still going strong.
Despite rumors circulating social media, the former Bachelorette and her fiancé have not called it quits. But they may have to atone with their fanbase after sparking breakup rumors with their dramatic April Fools' Day prank.
On Monday, fans of the couple were distraught after noticing that both of their proposal posts were missing from their pinned Instagram posts. This alone caused concern about the status of their engagement but to make matters worse, Lawson and Olubeko shared cryptic messages to their respective Instagram Stories that seemed to support the breakup speculation.
"Learn to let go of what does not want to be held," read the quote on Lawson’s story, while Olubeko’s said, "Be so rooted in yourself that nobody's abundance or presence can disturb your inner peace."
Thankfully, the panic was short-lived once fans remembered the date. And for those who failed to connect the dots, the couple assuaged their fears with an Instagram Story update of them arriving at an airport.
The video sees Olubeko filming as Lawson poses in front of a caption that reads, “Just landed after a looong week in Cali... what'd we miss on this wonderful April Fools Day?"
At the end of her Bachelorette run, Lawson, a 27-year-old child-and-family therapist from Georgia, accepted a proposal from Olubeko, a 30-year-old integrative-medicine specialist from Brooklyn. They have since relocated to Los Angeles.
"Within all my senses, I knew. How grateful am I to discover a love that cannot be replicated," Charity wrote in her Instagram post, announcing their engagement. “This was in no way an easy journey. But through it all - grace. You have shown me, in the most healthy way, how to receive and love fully again. I cannot wait to take on this life with you.”
In his own post, Dotun wrote, "Some days I still can't believe it's real myself. Yet it feels like there is a lifetime of heart and soul between us."
