Former Barnsley chief executive, Bolton Wanderers head of commercial and Blackpool chief commercial officer joins Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham Town have appointed former Barnsley chief executive and Blackpool chief commercial officer Linton Brown as their new head of commercial operations.

The 56-year-old played professionally as a forward for Halifax Town, Hull City, Swansea City and Scarborough, also appearing in non-league football for Guiseley, Emley and Gainsborough Trinity.

Since retiring, he has worked as commercial manager at his former club Hull before a spell as chief executive of Hull City.

He was installed as Barnsley's head of commercial in 2014 before going on to become commercial director and then chief executive in 2016.

Brown has since worked as interim head of commercial at Bolton Wanderers and chief commercial officer at Blackpool.

Outside of football, he was rugby league club Hull Kingston Rovers' director of commercial affairs.

Cheltenham have not had a head of commercial in place since Richard Morris left to join Swansea City in February 2023 after just over a year in the role.
