Former Casualty and Emmerdale star Chelsea Halfpenny welcomes new baby

Casualty and Emmerdale actress Chelsea Halfpenny is officially a mum.

Chelsea announced on Instagram yesterday (June 29) that she and her fiancé James Baxter have welcomed a baby girl.

"The best thing that's ever happened to us arrived a couple of weeks ago, and she's absolutely class," wrote Halfpenny next to a photo of the newborn's blanketed feet.

"The little love of our lives! @jamesbaxterrealtalk."

Many of the couple's famous friends were quick to congratulate them, with Busted band member Matt Willis responding in the comment section: "Amazing! Xxx" and former Emmerdale star Sammy Winward adding: "Beyond happy for you both".

Connie Beauchamp herself, former Casualty star Amanda Mealing, wrote: "Oh my goodness, congratulations babe. You will both be amazing parents. SO much love to you all!!!"

And Laura Norton, best known for her role as Emmerdale's Kerry Wyatt, said: "Just over the moon it's going to be the best looking, funniest child on the planet [...] love you clever lady".

Halfpenny originally announced her pregnancy back in April via social media.

Alongside a photo, she added: "As if renovating a house wasn't enough, we've decided to grow a baby at the same time!

"Officially MENTAL @jamesbaxterrealtalk But we are so close to meeting our new little best mate!"

While the couple, who started dating in 2018 and got engaged in 2021, have both previously appeared on Emmerdale, their stints on the show didn't actually cross over.

Chelsea previously revealed that she first crossed paths with James at a drama workshop when they were teenagers, adding she immediately had a crush on him – and told him this several years later once they were a couple.

"If you'd told those two teenagers then that they'd be getting married 16 years later they'd have thought it was mad!" she remarked.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
