Two former Coventry City favourites are looking for new clubs following their release by Forest Green Rovers.

Fankaty Dabo has been let go by the League Two club that finished bottom of the division and has dropped out of the Football League. The 28-year-old, who missed the final penalty for the Sky Blues in the Championship play-off final at Wembley last May, played 34 games for FGR during the 2023/24 campaign.

Despite ambitions to play at a higher level, Dabo was unable to find a new club after his release by Mark Robins last summer and eventually signed for Forest Green on a free transfer in September. The wing-back still has a lot of affection for Coventry and was back at the national stadium last month to watch his former team take Manchester United to penalties in the semi-final of the FA Cup.

Meanwhile, former Coventry captain Richard Keogh has also left the club after being released upon relegation. The 37-year-old defender signed for the club on February 1 and played 15 times during the second half of he season.

The pair join Nathan Holland, Dom Bernard, Darnell Johnson, Mathew Stevens, Jordon Garrick, Sean Robertson, Alex Gorrin, David Davis, Reece Brown and Luke Daniels.

Forest Green said on their website that they would like to say thank you to all of the players for their hard work, with special mention to Dom Bernard and Matty Stevens, who helped the club win Promotion to League One in 2021-2022.
