Former EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite confirms next role

Former EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite has confirmed an "exciting" new role.

The Mel Owen star has shared her upcoming endeavour, as she'll star in a new adaptation of Mike Leigh's Abigail's Party directed by Nadia Fall.

"Well This is exciting !!" Outhwaite wrote on her Instagram, alongside a poster of the theatre production in which she stars alongside Inside No. 9 star Kevin Bishop and Sex Education's Ashna Rabheru.

Outhwaite is set to play Beverly, the hostess of the soirée, joined by her husband Laurence, played by Bishop. Rabheru is to portray Angela, with Omar Malik (Hollyoaks, Call the Midwife) as Tony and Pandora Colin (Antigone, I Give It A Year) as Sue.

Set in Essex in 1977, Abigail's Party revolves around an awkward dinner party, with the play exploring themes of social class, materialism, and sexual tension.

As per the official synopsis: "Beverly is hosting, the alcohol is flowing, Demis Roussos is on the record player and the cheese and pineapple cocktail sticks are ready to go.

"Queen of the castle in her suburban semi, Beverly and husband Laurence welcome new neighbours Angela and Tony round for drinks.

"Sue from next door is invited, too, but the real party is happening back at her place, as Sue's teenage daughter Abigail can't seem to keep the racket down.

"Awkward small talk quickly descends into inappropriate flirtation and marital disputes: a soiree from hell but it'd be rude to leave."

The play will run from September 6 to October 5 at the Stratford East in London. Tickets are priced between £6 and £39.50 and are available to book now.
