Congratulations are in order for former X Factor winner Ben Haenow, who has revealed he is about to become a dad for the first time.

He announced the happy news that his wife Jessica Jones is pregnant on Instagram, by posting a video of their ultrasound scan, which also recorded the sound of the baby's heartbeat.

He captioned the video: "So Me and my beautiful wife have been working on a new release for next year 😊 @j_amy_haenow and I made this new little beat together!

"It's a stonker!! by far the best thing I've done ever and we couldn't be more excited."

Ben was crowned winner of The X Factor in 2014, although he parted ways with record label Syco just a year later.

Back in February, it was confirmed that judge Simon Cowell had decided to rest The X Factor in 2020, with it expected to return in 2021 after declining ratings.

However, ITV boss Kevin Lygo has since admitted that it's unlikely we'll see the reality show on our TV screens again next year either as he thinks the show needs more time away.

"It's not definitely returning – it might return, and if it does the format will tweak," Lygo said.

"I know it was the most successful entertainment show for the best part of a decade and you need to be wary of changes. We all think there were too many changes towards the end of the run, but I'm sure X Factor will be back at some stage.

"It's really, 'When is the right moment?'"

Last year, The X Factor aired two newly-revamped series back-to-back, including The X Factor: Celebrity and The X Factor: The Band.
