Fort Worth Firefighters Provide Support Against Texas Panhandle Blaze

Firefighters from Fort Worth joined crews battling several fires in the Texas panhandle on Tuesday, February 27.

Fifteen firefighters were sent to assist various agencies and were expected to remain for about 14 days, Fort Worth Fire Department (FWFD) said.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the residents affected by wildfire and for the safety of the crews,” FWFD added.

Footage from the fire department shows the smoke-filled sky near the Smokehouse Creek fire, which by Wednesday had grown to 500,000 acres in size.

The fire was still zero-percent contained as of Wednesday morning, according to FWFD and the Texas A&M Forest Service. Credit: Fort Worth FD via Storyful
