Will Forte strips down and swims in a fountain to sing James Ingram's 'Just Once' for charity

Forte took a dip for a "sizable donation" during Big Slick Celebrity Weekend.

Let it be known Will Forte will do what needs to be done to help the kids. Even if it means swimming in a public fountain while belting an early-80s quiet storm classic.

Forte was one of many celebrities attending Big Slick this weekend, and feeling in the charitable spirit, the former Saturday Night Live cast member took a dip for a "sizable donation" according to CNN's Jake Tapper, who documented the moment and posted the video on X.

"Someone offered to make a sizable donation to @ChildrensMercy for @BigSlickKC weekend if Will Forte  @OrvilleIV went into the hotel fountain and sang a verse of 'Just Once' by James Ingram," Tapper wrote, adding a link to donate "if you feel so inspired."

Forte belted out the verse, and even did a few laps in the fountain, which was not as cold as he thought it would be — but still "very cold."

"Just Once" was one of a pair of songs featuring Ingram on Quincy Jones' 1981 album, The Dude, that shot the then-29-year-old singer to stardom, earning him three Grammy nominations. He won Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for his other hit from that album, "One Hundred Ways." Ingram died in 2019 from brain cancer.

The Big Slick annual fundraiser was started by Rob Riggle, Paul Rudd, and Jason Sudeikis in support of the healthcare nonprofit Children's Mercy Kansas City and is celebrating its 15th year. Travis Kelce was among the celebs who showed up this weekend and Sudeikis quickly put him on the spot, asking the Chiefs tight end when he's finally going to put a ring on it, regarding girlfriend and noted pop icon Taylor Swift.

He had no comment.
