Fornitemares, a new Halloween-themed in-game event for Fortnite users, is set to kick off today, October 10.

Users of the online shooting game can expect a spooky new selection of new character skins, enemies, missions, and weapons.

These include the ability to pummel your opponents with pumpkins with the new Pumpkin Launcher weapon and to quickly launch yourself in the air before gliding down to the surface with the new Witch Broom item.

You’ll also be able to drain your opponent’s lifeforce to take as your own with the new weapon Thorne’s Vampiric Blade, provided you manage to take down one of Fornitemare’s key bosses “Kado Thorne” by driving a stake through his heart using the Wood Stake Shotgun.

Users will also be able to use “Sanguine Sweets”, such as Candy Corn, Pepper Mints, Hop Drops, and Jelly Beans, to temporarily boost their abilities, granting them unique benefits such as a short-term low gravity effect.

However, these new Halloween-themed weapons and items won’t be available in competitive play or tournaments.

Fortnite fans will also be able to indulge their nostalgia by dressing up as Disney’s Jack Skellington, the main character from Tim Burton’s early 90’ animated classic The Nightmare Before Christmas, including the Christmas-themed “Santa Jack”.

Players will also be able to play dress up as Michael Myers, the serial killing main character from the classic horror movie series Halloween, as well as Alan Wake, the titular character from the critically acclaimed 2010 horror game, a troubled writer battling a dark past.

There are also plenty of new gameplay experiences to put these items to work, as Fornitemares will see the return of Horde Rush quests.

In these quests, your team will head to different locations and survive each one’s “Cube Monster” horde until you beat a final boss.

You’ll have until November 3, 2023  to make the most of the new experience before it ends.
