Found’s second episode, which aired on NBC Tuesday night, pretty much confirmed that Lacey (Gabrielle Elise Walsh) is the same person who was abducted as a young girl by Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and befriended by a teenaged Gabi (A’Zaria Carter). During their latest case, Lacey revealed that she had to change her name and start a whole new life for herself.

“By the beginning of Episode 2, it’s pretty clear that Lacey is Bella,” showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll tells TVLine.

The episode also hammered in on how Lacey is haunted by Sir, looking up information on him while believing he still roamed free and unaware that he is being held captive in Gabi’s basement. According to the Found EP, that secret will weigh on Gabi as she continues to use Sir to help solve her cases.

“It’s no secret that Lacey worships the ground [Gabi] works on. This is a woman who saved her from her kidnapper and changed the course of her life. She wants to be Gabi when she grows up and has made that very clear,” Carroll shares. “It’s why Gabi is so uncomfortable when anyone, but especially Lacey, heaps praise on her or talks about how amazing she is. Because Gabi knows that the secret she’s harboring, and the fact that she has to a certain degree become the kind of monster they hunt every week, is going to be something that’s tough for Lacey to swallow.”

Caroll adds that “Lacey feels like she knows her hero inside and out. She’s grown up knowing her, so of course there are no surprises. Except Gabi knows that couldn’t be further from the truth, and so it weighs on her. Both that Lacey lives the fear that Sir is still out there somewhere, and Gabi knows exactly where he is, and that if Lacey should ever find out, it will irrevocably break something between the two of them.”

We’re pretty sure Trent would also be devastated if he were to ever learn of her secret, and not just because he’s a cop. Although he doesn’t always agree with her methods, it’s clear that he respects Gabi and cares for her on some level. But is there potential for them to be something more than just working professionals?

“I think that is something that everyone is going to be asking, including Gabi and Trent,” Carroll notes. “The chemistry between them is undeniable. They share the same passion but have very different views on how to go about addressing the problem. And nothing could prove a bigger obstacle to the establishing of a healthy relationship with a man who is a cop than keeping a man in your basement. “We’re going to find that sometimes, despite the obstacles before you, you cannot deny real connections when connections are made,” she teases. “The will-they-won’t-they of it all is something that both Gabi and Trent are also going to struggle with.”
