Four arrests after disturbance with knives near Epsom pizza shop

Four men have been arrested in Epsom after a violent incident near a pizza shop which involved knives.

The arrests occurred following reports of violence outside Papa Johns on Epsom High Street around 9.30pm on April 24.

The group were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs, possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Three of the men were additionally arrested on suspension of affray.

When police arrived at the scene, a Green Renault Scenic which is believed to be linked to the suspects, was seen leaving the area and was subsequently stopped at Clacket Lane services.

The arrested men were bailed pending further inquiries.

Police are encouraging anyone who was in the Epsom High Street area or might have relevant information or footage to come forward, quoting case number PR/45240045930.

A spokesperson for Epsom and Ewell Police said: “Four men were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs, possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

“Three of the men were also arrested on suspicion of affray following reports of a violent altercation in Epsom on Wednesday (24 April).

“They have been released on bail whilst the investigation continues.

“Police were called to reports of a disturbance between a group of men at around 9:30pm outside of Papa Johns on Epsom Highstreet on Wednesday 24 April.

“As police arrived, a Green Renault Scenic was seen to leave the area. Police later stopped the vehicle at Clacket lane services.
