A four-year-old boy died while trying to push an antique lawn roller, an inquest has heard. Maldwyn 'Gwern' Evans died at his home in Tynreithin in the Tregaron area of Ceredigion on Thursday, June 20.

The family of the four-year-old described him as a "loving" son and "caring" brother, who "touched the hearts of so many" and was a "keen little farmer". An inquest opening, which was held in Aberystwyth, heard the roller went over the boy's legs.

The inquest has been adjourned with a full inquest set to be held on October 9. In a tribute issued on Tuesday, June 25, Maldwyn's family said they were "incredibly distraught" by the "tragic loss". The family also thanked for the support and kindness they had received. You can read the full tribute here.

Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed they had been called to the incident at a property on June 20 and they were not treating the death as suspicious. A post-mortem examination is currently outstanding.
