Four students slashed in three separate NYC school incidents: cops

Four students were stabbed and slashed in three separate clashes on the grounds of Big Apple high schools Tuesday afternoon, cops and sources said.

The wave of violence in a little more than an hour saw two students knife each other in Hell’s Kitchen at a building that houses several schools, another student slashed in a gang attack inside the Evander Childs Educational Campus in the Bronx and fourth person stabbed at the Queens High School of Teaching, Liberal Arts and the Sciences.

The Hell’s Kitchen incident erupted during a 1:20 p.m. fracas where two boys were knifed — one of them in the face and the other in the torso — at a building on West 49th Street near Tenth Avenue, police said.

Both wounded victims — whose ages were not immediately known — were hospitalized in stable condition and taken into police custody but not charged by Tuesday evening, according to cops.

It wasn’t clear which school the boys attended, but the building is home to the Business of Sports School, the Stephen T. Mather Building Arts of Craftsmanship High School, the Urban Assembly Gateway School For Technology and the Success Academy Charter School – Midtown West Middle School.

Police could also not immediately say exactly whether the violence broke out inside or outside of the building.

Milla, 12, a sixth grader at Success Academy, told The Post alongside her mother that her teachers told her that high schoolers were involved in the violence.

She said her school was forced into a lockdown.

“I was going out for recess but then they suddenly….[they] were [like] ‘Go upstairs, run upstairs. It’s an emergency,’ and it was like a whole situation,” she said. “People had to go running up the stairs to go to the classroom, they had to close the blinds. We went on lockdown…my teachers, there were people rushing outside to try to take care of us.

“[The teachers] were like, ‘Be quiet, guys,’ Milla said. “They didn’t try to make it a big deal because obviously they knew we’re children.

“They didn’t want us to worry that much,” she added. “Half of me felt safe but part of me was like, ‘What if something happens? What if someone goes up here?’”

She said violence like this is not a common occurrence – but she often hears teens screaming in the stairwell, and fights outside.

“I always know it’s possible to happen because we practiced,” Milla said, “It’s New York….But actually going through it, going so close to it, I was like, ‘What’s happening?’”

But Milla’s mother, Domenica, said in Spanish that she is “terrified” sending her daughter and son to school when violent incidents like this happen – and that she is considering homeschooling them next year.

“As a parent, I’m terrified that this will happen more,” Domenica said as her daughter translated. “Before there were the shootings, now it’s stabbings. I’m getting more and more terrified…I am scared sometimes and panicked something might happen. Obviously, it does happen in other places but now it’s getting worse and worse, especially in school areas.”

In a statement, Jenna Lyle, spokeswoman for the city’s Department of Education, said the school was placed under a “soft lockdown.”

“The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. Violence has absolutely no place in our schools, and this behavior is unacceptable,” Lyle said. “We will be providing additional emotional supports to any student who needs it.”

About 10 minutes later, two boys, 15 and 16, were fighting inside the Evander Childs Educational Campus on East Gun Hill Road near Bronxwood Avenue in the East Bronx when the older boy slashed his younger rival in the back of the neck, police sources said.

The victim was left with a severe wound in the gang-related attack, the sources said.

The 16-year-old was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, according to the sources.

Then, around 2:45 p.m., an 18-year-old boy was stabbed in the back and left arm during a dismissal-time clash outside the Queens High School of Teaching, Liberal Arts and the Sciences on Commonwealth Boulevard in the Bellerose neighborhood, cops said.

He was taken to North Shore University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

No arrests have been made in that case.
