‘Frasier’ Trailer: Revival Series Returns to Kelsey Grammer’s Roots

Frasier Crane is back in Boston, and not much has changed since the beloved psychiatrist swapped coasts.

The Kelsey Grammer-led “Frasier” revival series reveals in the trailer that “Frasier is back…and he’s basically the same” as Frasier (Grammer) quips about beer and scolds his son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott) for trying to sit on his couch in jeans.

The 10-episode first season follows Dr. Frasier Crane in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge, and an old dream or two to finally fulfill, per the official synopsis.

Those fresh faces include Nicholas Lyndhurst as college buddy turned university professor Alan, Toks Olagundoye as head of the university’s psychology department, Olivia, Jess Salgueiro as Freddy’s roommate Eve, and Anders Keith as Frasier’s nephew David, the son of Niles (David Hyde Pierce) and Daphne (Jane Leeves), neither of whom will appear in the series.

However, original cast members Peri Gilpin, who starred as Frasier’s radio talk show producer Roz, and Bebe Neuwirth, who played Frasier’s ex-wife Lilith, are set to reprise their respective roles for one-episode stints on the revival.

“Cheers” spin-off “Frasier” premiered in 1993 and ran for 11 seasons. The NBC sitcom made history winning the most Emmys of all time with 37 awards; the record is still held for a comedy series, but “Game of Thrones” overtook the overall title in 2016.

The “Frasier” revival is written by “How I Met Your Mother” scribe Chris Harris and “Life in Pieces” screenwriter Joe Cristalli, who both executive produce alongside star Grammer, Tom Russo, and Jordan McMahon.

“Cheers” co-creator and “Frasier” executive producer James Burrows will helm the first two episodes of the upcoming series, with the pilot taped in front of a live studio audience in Los Angeles. Burrows also directed the first-ever “Frasier” episode, coming full circle with the revival.

“Frasier” premieres October 12 on Paramount+. Check out the trailer below.
