Fans of DJ and producer Fred Again are only just realising where he got his stage name from.

The artist's real name, Frederick Gibson, was believed to be the origins of his stage name but he later revealed a film inspired the change and gave him the "again" part. He confirmed his stage moniker origins in a TikTok last year but Twitter/X users are only just figuring out the line of dialogue which gave him his artistic pull.

Fans of the live action adaptation of Scooby-Doo will be delighted to hear a key scene in the Rowan Atkinson and Freddie Prinze Jr. starring movie can be credited as inspiring the name.

One Twitter/X user wrote: "Did you know that Fred Again got his name from the 2001 Scooby-Doo movie? When they all change bodies and either Velma or Daphne goes 'aww I'm Fred again!' and that stuck with him."

While it may sound too wild to be true, the 30-year-old confirmed the origins of his name in a TikTok posted back in 2023. In a stitch with a user watching the movie, Gibson confirmed the name was lifted from dialogue used in Scooby-Doo. The original TikTok was captioned: "I'm fully convinced this is how Fred Again got his name."

Fred Again stitched the TikTok and simply nodded his head while smiling, confirming the origins of his stage name have James Gunn and Craig Titley, the writers of the 2002 Scooby-Doo adaptation, to thank.

It is not the only strange link Fred Again has to cultural titans as it was revealed legendary musician Brian Eno gave him his start. Gibson's family happened to be neighbours to the Roxy Music alumni, who accepted a 16-year-old Gibson into an a cappella group at his studio in London.
