Freeview warns all viewers to 'retune TV' immediately

Freeview users warned have been warned to check their TVs immediately. Freeview has warned customers on its website that they will need to return their sets immediately after a change on Wednesday April 24.

Freeview warned: "On 24 April 2024 some broadcasters are making important changes to their channels. You will need to retune to update your TV and keep your channels and TV Guide up to date. " In terms of what's changing, there will be some channel name changes, Freeview has warned.

There will also be some channel moves. Channel name changes affect local channels with Talk Birmingham becoming Birmingham TV, Talk Bristol becoming Bristol TV, Talk Cardiff becoming Cardiff TV and Talk Leeds becoming Leeds TV.

Talk Liverpool will become Liverpool TV while Talk North Wales becomes North Wales TV and Talk Teesside becomes Teesside TV. Talk Tyne & Wear becomes Tyne & Wear. Channels moving include ITV Be+1 from 58 to 93 as well as ITV 3+1 from 59 to 58 and ITV4 +1 from 93 to 59.

Channel launches include Purpose Media on 293 as well as Talk TV on 294 Channel closures include Zee World on 278 and on radio: Hits Radio 711 Kiss Fresh 712 Kiss 713 Kisstory 714 Magic 715 Greatest Hits Radio 716 Kerrang! 717.

On its website, Freeview said: "Get inspired in the kitchen, Entertained on the go. Or fall in love with a TV moment on the sofa. You can enjoy Freeview through your Freeview Play TV, through the Freeview app on your mobile or tablet or you can enjoy live TV via the TV guide on this site."
