Yahoo News Fresh details emerge for £115 million 'canalside village' between Bedworth and Coventry
Detailed plans for a new community park on a huge £115 million 'canalside village' between Bedworth and Coventry have emerged. Planning permission has already been given the go-ahead for the latest phase of development former golf course at Hawkesbury.
This gave outline planning permission for 110 homes, a community park, open space, landscaping, pedestrian and cycle routes and associated infrastructure. Now a new application has been submitted to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council which seeks the go-ahead for several 'reserved matters' for the development off Blackhorse Road.
This includes the community park element. In the proposal is a CGI which shows what the plan will look like and what equipment it will have. There will be a 'toddler play area' as well as a 'fitness area'.

There is also a 'teens area' within the park site as well as a 'picnic area' and a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA). The reserved matters application also includes the proposals for landscaping the site and signing and layout.
If approved, it means that the construction will be able to start. The application is now being looked at by planners at the Town Hall.
The proposals can be viewed on the council's website, by searching in its planning section for reference 040374. The target decision date has been set as August 1.
The huge scheme on the former golf course site has not been without controversy. Locals opposed the plans and, back in 2018, cried 'shame on you' to councillors after the land was approved to be part of future housing plans in the borough.
