MORE junk has been dumped down a fly-tipping-prone road this morning, causing more upset to residents who live down the country lanes.

A fridge has been left in the bushes in Chapel Lane, Ardleigh, adding to the consistent fly-tipping problem the area has.

One Chapel Road resident said: "I chose to live in beautiful countryside to enjoy quietness, nature and wildlife.

"How shocked I was to discover the level of fly-tipping around here.

"Every day on a walk you can see bags of clothes, rubbish, fridges or tyres dumped on the side or on the road blocking our access to homes.

"It’s frustrating, upsetting and difficult to understand how people can be so ignorant.”

It comes after residents were late to work after fly-tipped rubbish left a road impassable.

Homeowners in Chapel Road woke up to a big pile of rubbish obstructing the road, with cars having no way of getting through.

Zoe Fairley, Ardleigh ward councillor, said: "I’m very disappointed to hear about this further fly-tipping instance in Chapel Road.

"It seems this is one of the current hotspots being frequented by offenders.

"Any suspicious activity should be reported to the authorities.

"As well as being an illegal activity, fly-tipping is also an environmental hazard and the cost of clearing up illegally dumped waste sadly impacts on other important council services as well.

"More needs to be done to reduce instances, but unfortunately, most cases lack any incriminating evidence which can lead to prosecution and culprits know the likelihood of being caught is low.

"This means they are not put off and punishments are empty threats."
