Friends star Courteney Cox has opened up about her regrets over getting facial fillers when she was younger and how it distorted her perception of what she saw in the mirror.

Talking on the Gloss Angeles Beauty Podcast, Cox revealed her struggles with fillers and the domino effect of making modifications to your face.

The Scream veteran joined the podcast's co-hosts, beauty journalists Kirbie Johnson and Sara Tan, to speak about her home fragrance brand Homecourt and beauty regime, where she spoke about her troubled times with fillers and cautioned those battling with the idea of getting older.

Cox said: "Thinking I was getting older when I was really young, that's just a bummer, a waste of time.

"It's a domino effect. It's like you don't realise that you look a little off, so then you keep doing more cause you look normal to yourself, and you look in the mirror and go, 'Oh, that looks good'''.

Cox, who is making her sixth appearance in the Scream franchise as Gale Weathers, mentioned how she didn't realise how other people saw her when she had fillers.

She said: "You don't realise what it looks like to the outside person and just doing too many fillers and then having to have them removed, which, thank God, they are removable.

"But I think I messed up a lot, and now luckily, I can, I was able to reverse most of that, and now I'm actually just older."

The hosts commented how not everybody who goes "overboard with fillers" can go back to how they once looked, which prompted Cox to share that she can't believe how she used to look when she sees old pictures.

"I look at pictures of me from when I thought I looked okay, and I can't believe it," Cox shared.

"My publicist wouldn't let me post this, but I wanted to say, like a before or what I was and what I am, and then the caption would be 'Oh, this is what my friend was talking about'".

Fans can now see a more natural-looking Cox in Scream 6, where she joins Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega as sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter, as well as the return of Scream 4's Hayden Panettiere as Kirby Reed.

Scream 6 is currently out in cinemas in the UK and USA.

Scream is out now on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD, or to download and keep. US viewers can also stream the new movie on Paramount+.
