Full Bristol City fixtures for 2024/25 Championship season: Robins start with trip to Hull City

Bristol City will open the 2024/25 Championship season with a midday trip to Hull City’s MKM Stadium followed by back-to-back fixtures at Ashton Gate against Millwall and Coventry City.

The Robins will take on the Tigers at 12:30pm, in a repeat of how they began the 2022/23 campaign, with all Saturday Championship games kicking off at 12:30pm in the EFL’s new allocated time slots for that specific weekend as each match will be shown live on Sky Sports.

After the journey to East Yorkshire, the Robins host Millwall and Coventry in BS3 followed by two successive away days at newly-promoted Derby County and Blackburn Rovers, to close out what appears to be an agreeable opening first five fixtures.

Oxford United will then play a league match at Ashton Gate for the first time since 2001, with the Us back in the second tier after their play-off triumph. City’s first encounter against fellow Championship returnees Portsmouth is on December 7 at Fratton Park with the reverse fixture in South Bristol on December 29.

The festive period stands out given City are at home to Luton on Boxing Day, followed by Pompey and then travel to West Country rivals Plymouth Argyle on New Year’s Day.

The first Severnside Derby is relatively early in the season with Cardiff City the visitors to BS3 on October 5, with the game in the Welsh capital on February 15, 2025.

As for the teams coming down from the Premier League, who are expected once again to be the heavyweights in the division alongside Leeds United - although the Championship next term perhaps doesn’t look quite as strong as the season just passed - City don’t play Sheffield United until November 5.

That month does look a challenging one for the Robins, however, with trips to Norwich City and Watford and the visit of Burnley.

City close out the season against fellow Championship regulars Preston North End at home, after what should be difficult games at Luton Town and Leeds United.
