Full list of candidates running in Belfast East in General Election 2024

Seven candidates will battle it out to win your votes in the Belfast East constituency in the upcoming UK General Election.

As voters go to the polls on July 4, Alliance leader Naomi Long is battling to win back the seat she lost to the DUP leader Gavin Robinson in 2015.

East Belfast has been an historic unionist stronghold since the constituency was created in 1855 with Ms Long being the only non-unionist to ever win the seat when she defeated the DUP's Peter Robinson who had been MP for the area for 31 years back in 2010.

Recent boundary changes mean the Garnerville area is now part of the North Down constituency while Cregagh, Hillfoot, Merok and Woodstock have moved into East Belfast.

Back in 2019 there were only 1,819 votes between Gavin Robinson and Naomi Long with the UUP candidate picking up 2,516 votes.

This time around with the SDLP and the Green Party fielding candidates, Naomi Long will be hoping that the TUV can reduce Gavin Robinson's vote enough to take her over the line.
