Isle of Wight's Alzheimer Cafe has received a significant boost as it secures £1,500 in funding.

The much-needed funds, secured through Tesco's Stronger Starts scheme, will be used to purchase new kitchen equipment, improving the service the cafe provides to those living with dementia on the Isle of Wight.

Cafe CEO, Maggie Bennett said: "The money is already making a significant difference to people on the Island who have dementia."

In addition to kitchen enhancements like air pot flasks, toaster, and microwave, the funds also helped in securing new cutlery, crockery, and storage units.

Paulette Thompson, a cafe trustee, said they were very grateful to Tesco.

Claire De Silva, head of community at Tesco, said: "We’re delighted that we can help voluntary organisations like the Alzheimer Cafe."

The Stronger Starts scheme works alongside Groundwork charity to regularly donate thousands of pounds to local programs making a positive community impact.

Tesco's shoppers can contribute by voting with blue tokens collected at checkout.
