Funnel Cloud Looms Over Mountains in Mission Valley, Montana

A funnel cloud was seen looming over St. Ignatius, in Mission Valley, Montana, according to the National Weather Service.

Video captured by Isley Reust shows the funnel cloud shooting down from the sky above the mountains.

“I was out doing yard work when I noticed some dark clouds forming… I went inside to make a sandwich and that is when I noticed out the window there was a tornado forming along the mountains,” Reust told Storyful.

The NWS said it’s a common myth that tornadoes can’t form along mountains. While conditions are not optimal for their development, there have been multiple documented instances of tornadoes forming on top mountain ranges in the United States, the weather service stated.
