A FURNITURE shop that has been open for more than 50 years has announced it will close as its founder retires.

David Phipp House Furnisher, in Ringwood Road, Ferndown, will close its doors for the final time on September 30.

The family-owned and run business said the decision had not been taken lightly and was made after ‘much deliberation’ following a recent bout of ill health for David.

David said: “None of this would have been possible without the loyal custom and the incredible dedication of our staff, whom I consider family. I have loved every minute; I am very lucky to be able to say that.

“We will close the doors in September after 52 years - I will miss it dearly.”

Until the shop closes its doors, it will be holding a retirement and closing down sale, with all items in store reduced.

This includes sofas, dining furniture, beds, bedroom furniture, mattresses, sofa beds, kitchen furniture and more.

The family said it hopes that customers old and new will visit the shop, if only to say goodbye.

The shop can be found in Ringwood Road, by the Palmersford Roundabout.
