Future of Houston Co. Farm Center to be unveiled soon

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — The public will soon be able to see what the future of the Houston County Farm Center looks like.

Plans for the center will be revealed during the Tuesday meeting of the Houston County Commission.

The presentation will discuss the plans to renovate the building and how the farm center will benefit the city and county in the coming years.

The Farm Center is already set to undergo a roof replacement project, which could begin immediately after the Tuesday meeting when it will be approved.

The building’s current roof dates back to the 1990s and has recently been damaged, causing leaks. The new roof will be made of standing seam metal that is expected to last 50 years.

Houston County Chairman Commissioner Brandon Shoupe says everyone is excited about the farm center’s future, and they expect the building to be completely new and improved by next year.
