Nearly a year after releasing their second album Drummer, G Flip teases new music in the works
G Flip is looking forward to watching their wife, Chrishell Stause, compete on The Traitors.
The Selling Sunset star, 42, was recently announced as a cast member for the upcoming third season of Peacock's The Traitors, a reality series she and G Flip, 30, are "huge fans" of. However, the Australian musician misses their spouse while she's away filming the show — especially during LGBTQ+ Pride Month.
"She just joined me on tour, so she did some dates, but she’s filming, so we don’t get to talk to each other, which is really sucky," G Flip tells PEOPLE while backstage at the 2024 Governors Ball Music Festival in New York City on Sunday, June 9, emphasizing their enthusiasm: "We love The Traitors. We’re huge fans. We’ve nearly watched all of them. So excited."
The "Be Your Man" performer (who identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns) wishes they could chat with Stause, but they also want the actress and TV personality to go as far as possible in the competition.
If G Flip could converse with their wife during her time at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, however, they'd know exactly what to say: "I love you baby. I’m so proud of you. You’re gonna kill it."
"I hope you go well in the challenges, and I’m sorry if there’s any bug challenges, because I know you don’t like bugs. And please don’t give her any spiders, please, for goodness’ sake. Do not whack out a spider on my beautiful wife. Do not, because she will quit the show. She will just leave," says the singer-songwriter.
"Actually, I miss her. Bring out the spiders — then she’ll come home," jokes G Flip. "No, but I love The Traitors. It’s a good show. F---, it’s a good show."
The "Rough" artist's Governors Ball set arrives nearly a year after the release of their second album Drummer in August 2023, and they've since been on an extensive tour in support of the record.
"It’s crazy that it’s almost been a year. I didn’t think about that. Now I’m like, ‘Oh s---, it has,'" says G Flip. "It’s been so rad, man. I’ve had the best time touring it. I’m still on the Drummer Tour as we speak. I just did seven shows in the last eight days, so I’m still trekking through, but the response has been magic."
They continue, "I really feel like I’m getting a core fanbase over here in the U.S., which has always been the dream [as] an Australian artist."
Despite G Flip's busy schedule, they've somehow managed to make new music on the road. "It’s been hard to write on tour, not gonna lie. I barely have time to sleep and eat, but new music is coming, and I can’t wait," they say.
"I’m so excited for the next album and what it is — and to keep touring. I love tour. I love waking up in different places, meeting different people. The States is such a fun place to tour," adds G Flip.
