Gabrielle Union Shares Wholesome Family Snaps with Dwyane Wade and Daughter Kaavia James: 'I Think I Like This Little Life'

It's a family affair on Instagram for the Union-Wade crew!

On Friday, May 31, Gabrielle Union posted adorable snapshots of her home life with husband Dwyane Wade and their 5-year-old daughter, Kaavia James.

In the Instagram upload, the Perfect Find star, 51, snuggled up on a couch next to Wade, 42, and their daughter. As part of the selfie clip, which featured three different snapshots, the retired NBA great threw up a peace sign, and Kaavia munched on a bag of Cheetos.

"I think I like this little life 💖," Union captioned the post, which also included a slide featuring the words, "Keep writing your fairytale."

"I love this❤️," actress Viola Davis commented under the family photos.

Wade is also dad to two children with ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches — Zaire, 22, and Zaya, 17 — as well as a son, Xavier, 10, whom he shares with Aja Metoyer. Wade is the legal guardian of his nephew, Dahveon Morris, 21.

Earlier this week, Wade and Union saluted Zaya on social media for her 17th birthday, sharing separate Instagram posts marking the occasion. Wade's featured the caption, "Seventeen🎉 @zayawade."

Days before, the Hall of Famer earned the Elevate Prize Catalyst Award in Miami thanks to his advocacy work for the transgender community, and he spoke to PEOPLE about what the honor means to him. The award was given out by the Elevate Prize Foundation at its annual Make Good Famous Summit, and Wade was the first athlete to be recognized with the honor.

“Sports is something you can expect an award from,” Wade said. “But this one right here is not one of those things that I would expect to get an award for. I’m just a parent doing what a good parent should do.”

Wade — whose daughter Zaya publicly came out as transgender in 2020 when she was 12 — referred to the recognition as a shared prize. “This is a Wade family award,” he said. “This is just part of the Wade family, all the things that we do … We feel that in this space to make the world a better place, you have to have acceptance.”

Since she was 14, Zaya has been working with her dad on Translatable, a digital platform that will provide LGBTQ+ youth a safe space. The father-daughter pair will be posting their own content to the platform, which is set to offer educational resources for families of children who have questions about gender identity.

“She didn't ask for this extra excitement in life,” Wade told PEOPLE. “She just wanted to be a kid and do kid things and live her life and be selfish and worry about herself. That's what you're supposed to do at her age, worry about you."

"But she's thinking about a larger community, and so I'm damn proud of her as a father," he added.
