Gallery: Royal Norfolk Show one of the 'biggest and best' in years

Tens of thousands of people are heading home after a sun-drenched Royal Norfolk Show which organisers have described as one of the biggest and best in years.

Summer arrived just in time for this year's event, with sunshine and blue skies above the showground across two glorious days.

The show's president, Lady Dannatt, said it was one of the best she has known in almost 70 years.

Mark Nicholas, managing director of the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association (RNAA), the organisers of the event, said it was one the biggest years for the show since bouncing back from Covid.

Well over 80,000 people flocked through the gates of the showground this year, with thousands of extra tickets being sold on the back of the success of the splendid first day.

Commercial director Richard Greenacre said: "We've had a really good couple of days. It's Norfolk's show and it only works because the people of Norfolk comes out.

"The feedback we have had from customers and traders has been great. We have definitely sold more tickets than last year."

He said a combination of fabulous weather and a strong grand ring programme had been key factors in the higher numbers.

The showground welcomed a royal visitor on day two, with the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, spending the afternoon meeting various people.
