Netflix has revealed first looks at the cast of Criminal's second season, including Game of Thrones star Kit Harington, who – all suited and booted with a trimmed 'do – looks worlds away from his fantasy counterpart.

The streaming platform unveiled a bunch of posters and a trailer for the anthology show's forthcoming instalment today (September 2), along with some stills from the episodes too.

Keeping schtum on the details, Netflix teased that the series would return on September 16 and feature "four new cases, four new suspects and one room that changes everything".

It also told subscribers to "prepare for bold stories, some surprises, and a completely innovative take on the police procedural".

Following on from the likes of Hayley Atwell and David Tennant, Harington will be joined on screen by Catastrophe's Sharon Horgan, Wanderlust's Sophie Okonedo – who will soon be seen in Ryan Murphy's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest spin-off Ratched – and The Big Bang Theory star Kunal Nayyar.

Created by Jim Field Smith and George Kay, Criminal premiered on Netflix back in September 2019. Billed as a "cat-and-mouse drama," each episode depicts the intensity of a police investigation from the confinements of an interview room.

Criminal season two will land on Netflix on Wednesday, September 16. Season one is available to stream now.
