Some weeds may look charming, but when they sprout in unwanted places, they quickly become a nuisance. These stubborn plants are notorious for their swift growth and adaptability to various environments. Devoted gardeners have been exchanging advice on the Gardening Hints and Tips Facebook group, sharing their best methods for eradicating these intrusive weeds.

John Bennett expressed his exasperation: "We have weeds growing in between our paving in the garden and it's driving me nuts. I've tried to use everything but weed killer as we have pets but it's not working, any help would be appreciated."

While there are pet-safe weed killers available, many common products can endanger animals. Nonetheless, gardening enthusiasts on the forum have recommended a number of ingenious solutions, including using bleach, reports the Express.

Sally Baker suggested: "Apply one cup of bleach, undiluted, to the affected area. Wait until the weeds turn brown before pulling them out of the ground. Run water around the area to flush the bleach, especially if you are trying to keep the patio free from weeds."

Helen Doyle shared her experience: "Bleach is a game-changing hack I learnt years ago which will kill weeds instantly. It is strong so be careful but also super affordable and easy, unlike some other hacks."

The Grass People specialists confirm: "Undiluted bleach can kill weeds growing through the cracks in your walkway or driveway."

"The best way to do this is to spray undiluted bleach on the weeds and let them stand. The solution will kill existing weeds and help prevent new ones from sprouting, but be warned. Bleach will kill grass, flowers and other vegetation as well, so be sure to use it only on harder surfaces and not near or on organic matter."

If you're considering using bleach to tackle weeds, ensure that pets and children are kept inside until the area is dry and safe. A bottle of bleach can be found for as little as 30p in most stores.
