Garry Cook confirms three new appointments Knighthead have made at Birmingham City

Knighthead have created three new senior leadership roles at Birmingham City, chief executive Garry Cook confirmed at Tuesday’s Open House event.

Earlier this week it was confirmed that Mike Rigg will be joining Blues’ academy as technical director. Rigg worked alongside Cook during his time as Manchester City’s CEO and has held positions with QPR, Fulham, Burnley and Al-Jazira since leaving The Etihad in 2012.

In addition to Rigg, Blues have added Grant Brokenshire and Jonty Castle to their top team, while a new role has been created for John Clarke. Clarke has been leading Blues’ media strategy since Knighthead took control of the club last July.

Cook explained: “We’ve added three key senior leaders. Grant Brokenshire is leading our strategy in corporate services across a shared base and that includes HR (human resources), legal, and IT and procured services.

“Jonty Castle has joined as our new commercial and operations officer, driving hospitality, retail and all of the other revenue streams with partners and sponsors.

“And John Clarke - you may see John around the building - has a new role: chief of fan experience. So when you see a fan zone, that’s because John is leading that team to say, ‘OK, how do we make this a better place?’ We want you to come to this team to support the team but have a good day, most importantly.”
