Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has landed himself a new job inside the Labour Party ahead of next month's general election.

Neville has been best known for appearing as a pundit on Sky Sports since retiring from professional football and is currently appearing on ITV as part of their coverage of Euro 2024 in Germany. However, the ex-United man has not shied away from politics.

During the Qatar World Cup, Neville attacked both the host country and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for low pay and poor working conditions. The Conservative Party leader retaliated to the former United man, suggesting he 'stick to football' - a comment which inspired the name for his podcast which he hosts alongside Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright and Jill Scott.

It represents another venture away from football for Neville, who is currently in Germany as a pundit for Euro 2024 with ITV. He didn't appear on our screens on Wednesday though, with Danny Rohl, Karen Carney and Ian Wright instead on duty for the thrilling Albania v Croatia match. Soon after that game, the Labour Party revealed a linkup with the former United and England defender, who also appeared on Dragons Den earlier this year.

Neville has backed Labour in the past by appearing at their affiliated events but for the first time it seems he will be appearing on a party political broadcast on Wednesday evening. In a tweet posted by the Labour Party, they informed followers that Neville will be appearing alongside their leader Sir Keir Starmer.

In what appears to be a similar style to the content he creates with professional footballers, Neville will be interviewing Starmer about his prospects of becoming Prime Minister after July 4 and the journey the Labour leader has gone on to reach this position.

The interview will be aired on ITV at 6:25pm and on BBC One an hour later at 7:25pm due to the Euro 2024 clash between Germany and Hungary in Group A.
