Gary Neville and wife Emma to host ball and fundraiser featuring big stars and footballers

Gary Neville and his wife Emma will be hosting a huge ball and fundraiser to raise funds to help build a vital new hospice in Greater Manchester.

The Great Mancunian Ball will be held in aid of St Ann’s Hospice’s Build it Together campaign and will feature a host of big names from the world of showbiz and sport. Taking place at Aviva Studios, the home of Factory International, in the city centre on November 28, the event will feature live music and a special stage version of Gary’s YouTube sensation The Overlap.

The former Manchester United player, who just recently announced a champion of The Great British Menu will open their first restaurant inside his Manchester Stock Exchange hotel, will be joined on stage during The Overlap live session with football legends Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright, Jill Scott and Roy Keane.

There will also be a dinner, as well as live entertainment from internationally renowned Swan Band, who also performed at Gary and Emma's wedding. Speaking of the event, Gary said: “As soon as we heard about the Build it Together campaign we wanted to do everything we could to support St Ann’s Hospice and their fundraising.

“Being able to bring The Overlap to the event is going to be brilliant and I can’t wait to get Jamie, Ian, Jill and Roy on stage for this incredible cause.”

The ball, which will have a yellow and black theme to represent the Manchester bee, will help St Ann’s Hospice in their goal to build a new centre in Stockport suburb Heald Green, which will replace its current Victorian building on St Ann’s Road North.

“It is going to be a fantastic event and we are so pleased to be supporting St Ann’s with their plans,” Emma Neville said. “They are in desperate need of a new hospice building so they can continue to care for people. Their current building in Heald Green isn’t working for them anymore and their patients deserve better.

“The new hospice will be incredible with big en-suite bedrooms, gorgeous landscape gardens and everything the staff need to provide the very best care.”

The new building, which will be a complete care facility, will house a 27-bed inpatient unit with access to private outdoor terraces. The development, which will be located next to the current Heald Green hospice, will also feature modern outpatient and day therapy services, dedicated bereavement and family support spaces, all surrounded by beautiful, landscaped gardens.

As part of the Build it Together campaign, the charity has already raised £1.2 million out of its total £2m target. Rachel McMillan, Chief Executive at St Ann’s Hospice, said: “Our new hospice is going to make such a difference for people whose lives have been impacted by life limiting illnesses. I know what this new building means for patients and staff to have the best environment for St Ann’s Hospice.

“We want to carry on the pioneering vision of our founders and make them proud, the building has served us well for 53 years but we are in desperate need of a new one now so we can continue to lead and provide specialist care to those who need it for generations to come.

“We are so grateful to Gary and Emma for their support and for hosting this fabulous ball for us. What a wonderful opportunity for Manchester to come together to support our new hospice.”

The Great Mancunian Ball has been organised by Manchester event company Taylor Lynn Corporation (TLC) and will be hosted in partnership with Truth Creative. To enquire about tickets for The Great Mancunian Ball or to discuss sponsorship opportunities, click here.
