A Gateshead teenager is set to skydive alongside his 86-year-old Great-nana in aid of the Young Lives vs Cancer charity. Jack and his family were supported by Young Lives vs Cancer, after being diagnosed with a brain tumour when he was a baby.

Seven rounds of chemotherapy, proton therapy and becoming registered blind have not stopped Jack from fundraising. He has done this in various ways, such as the mini North Run, the junior North Run, tombola’s, raffles, bake sales, family fun days, and memory challenges.

Jack turns 16 years old at the end of June, and in July, he will be skydiving for the charity that have supported him, alongside his octogenarian Great-nana Joyce. At this point, Jack has raised £150,000 for the charity, he is now taking on this new challenge, and is hoping to bring his total up to £200,000.

Jack said: "I want to raise money for Young Lives vs Cancer because they helped my family when I was a baby and I want to give back to other young people who aren’t as lucky as I am. I am a thrill seeker, and I’ve done a zip wire and I love rollercoasters, so I am taking it to a whole new level."

Sam Hughes, Fundraising Engagement Manager at Young Lives vs Cancer, said: "Jack is the most incredible young man, who doesn’t let anything stand in his way. He’s done so much to support Young Lives vs Cancer and has already raised huge amounts of money.

"I know this latest challenge means a lot to him, and I’m hoping everyone gets behind him and shows their support. Fundraisers like Jack make it possible for us to be there for other children and young people with cancer, and we can’t thank him enough."

Jack’s skydive is taking place on 20th July, and if you would like to donate, his JustGiving fundraising page can be found here.
