Gatineau senior dies days after apparent random attack
An 81-year-old man has died days after being stabbed while gardening outside a retirement home in Gatineau, Que.
Gatineau police had been called to Campus 3 around 10:30 a.m. last Monday. They found Réjean Lavigne, a retired Transport Canada employee, lying on the ground outside.
He was rushed to hospital with upper body injuries.
His son, Alain Lavigne, told Radio-Canada that his father died Sunday morning.
Jonathan Lepage-Clément, 41, from Shawinigan, Que., is facing several charges.
Gatineau police said they don't believe Lavigne and Lepage-Clément knew each other.
