'Gavin and Stacey' star Rob Brydon clarifies there are 'absolutely no plans' for another special

Rob Brydon has clarified there are currently "no plans" for a Gavin and Stacey special.

It comes as reports have suggested the Bryn West actor hinted toward the possibility of another one-off episode of the much-loved series written by Ruth Jones and James Corden.

Clearing up any possible confusion via his Twitter account on Thursday, he wrote: "I hate to disappoint but I think what I said was I wouldn't be surprised if there was another special, given how the last one ended. That's all.

"There are absolutely no plans that I'm aware of. Sorry..."

The original series ran from 2007 until 2010, with a long-awaited Christmas special arriving in 2019. It drew an audience of 18 million people and was the most-watched comedy show of the last decade.

It ended on a cliffhanger as Jones' character Nessa proposed to Corden's Smithy, with the credits rolling before he could respond.

Brydon made the initial comments during a conversation with Sheridan Smith, who played Ruth "Rudi" Smith in the comedy, on his podcast.

He said: "Well, I think they might do one more special. Because they left it hanging, didn’t they, with the proposal?

“So it would seem strange if they didn’t. But they should crack on if they are going to do it.”

Speaking about the possibility of another series last year, Jones said there were no plans for another instalment and teased that "the door is closed but it's not locked".
