Yahoo News Gayle King Bursts With Color in Whimsical Bodycon Dress for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Launch Party 2024
Gayle King chose a colorful look for the 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue launch party at the Hard Rock Cafe on Thursday in New York City. The “CBS Mornings” journalist wore a bodycon midi dress from Afrm to the event. The frock featured a long-sleeved silhouette and a tie-dye print throughout.
King accessorized with pink pumps, a pink sequined clutch and simple jewelry.

King is one of the cover stars of the 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, along with Kate Upton, Chrissy Teigen, Hunter McGrady and more. Upton presented the anchor with the cover on the CBS set on Tuesday.
“I never in a million years thought I would be standing here in a bathing suit for Sports Illustrated. But here I am,” she said in a behind-the-scenes video posted on SI’s Instagram. “I would have never thought this was possible,” she said, adding, “this was nowhere on my bucket list.”
King also appears in a group cover photo celebrating the Swimsuit Issue’s 60th anniversary with numerous other models, including Winnie Harlow, Maye Musk and Jasmine Sanders. The headline reads, “Be Legendary.”
Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue debuted in 1964 and featured Babette March. Since then, covers have featured Christie Brinkley, Heidi Klum and Cheryl Tiegs, among others. Tyra Banks made history as the first Black woman to grace the cover of the issue in 1997, while tennis star Naomi Osaka was the first Black athlete to appear both inside and on the cover.
King, who is 69, also joins a growing list of real people who’ve appeared on the cover and is by no means the oldest. Musk, Elon’s mother, appeared on the cover at age 74 in 2022 while Martha Stewart made headlines for her appearance on the cover in 2023 at the age of 81.
The 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue marks the 60th anniversary of the publication. The issue, which will be available on Friday, features Gayle King, Kate Upton, Tyra Banks, Chrissy Teigen, Brittany Mahomes, Olivia Dunne and more.
