Yahoo News Gayle King defends Justin Timberlake after DWI arrest: 'He's not reckless'
The singer was arrested early Tuesday in the Hamptons.
Gayle King has come to the defense of Justin Timberlake after his recent arrest for driving while intoxicated.
King and her colleagues reported on the singer's recent charge after he was pulled over in the Hamptons on Wednesday's episode of CBS Mornings. “Justin Timberlake is a really, really great guy,” King said. “Listen, this is clearly a mistake. I bet nobody knows it more than he.”
"A stupid mistake," co-host Nate Burleson chimed in.
"Exactly," King said. "And he knows that. But he's not an irresponsible person. He's not reckless, he's not careless. Clearly, this is not a good thing but he knows that.” She added that while there's "never any excuse" for drunk driving, King noted that people should not be quick to judge.

Timberlake, 43, was pulled over and arrested Tuesday while driving to a friend's house from American Hotel in Sag Harbor, on the eastern tip of Long Island in New York. Police claimed he had bloodshot and glassy eyes, smelled of alcohol, and performed poorly on all sobriety tests. He allegedly refused to take a breathalyzer test three times and told police that he had only one martini.
Timberlake was held overnight for an arraignment, where he pleaded not guilty. His next court date is July 26. His attorney, Ed Burke Jr., said he looked forward to "vigorously defending" him. "I will have a lot to say at the appropriate time, but am currently awaiting full discovery from the District Attorney’s office," Burke said in a statement.

The singer is currently headlining his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, his first in five years launched in support of his sixth studio album Everything I Thought It Was. His next stop is Chicago's United Center, scheduled for June 21 and 22.
