Geena Davis has revealed that she's asked Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins to cast her in the upcoming sequel.

The Thelma & Louise star, who has campaigned for more representation of women in film, praised the importance of the DC blockbuster.

"Certainly Wonder Woman needed to be made, and I'm so beyond thrilled with how it came out," she told Variety.

"I met Patty Jenkins and I told her, 'I'm sure you're going to make a sequel and if you need anybody Amazonian, there's always me. I'm available'."

Err, yes please.

Davis further added: "I loved it, and I want to do more of those films. My dream goal would be to have a streaming show where I could be a badass."

Of course, Jenkins has yet to be officially confirmed to direct Wonder Woman 2, though if she does she could become the highest-paid female director in Hollywood.

The first movie debuted in cinemas in June and quickly became a massive success – breaking the record for the best opening ever for a movie by a female director, as well as the best worldwide haul for a live-action movie directed by a woman.

The next movie in the franchise is expected to move events to the '80s and follow a narrative set in the Cold War.

Wonder Woman 2 will hit cinemas on December 13, 2019.
