General election 2024: how to get a free Krispy Kreme doughnut and BrewDog Punk beer if you vote

Voting in the 2024 general election is your democratic right and a chance to make your opinion heard about how the country is governed.

But if that is not enough to persuade you to head to a polling station today (Thursday, July 4), then two companies hope their incentives will.

Krispy Kreme and BrewDog are offering people freebies to encourage them to vote.

And, to show this is not a bribe (or in Krispy Kreme’s case, a sweetener) you can enjoy these goodies regardless of which party you vote for.

How to get free doughnuts from Krispy Kreme

The doughnut company and coffeehouse chain Krispy Kreme is giving away its Original Glazed doughnuts free of charge to reward voters nationwide.

People visiting a Krispy Kreme shop in the UK on election day can enjoy a free Original Glazed doughnut, simply by saying "I voted".

The offer is valid on July 4 and while stocks last.

“Please make sure you travel as early to the shop as possible, as this offer is strictly only available whilst stocks last,” the company said.

The promotion is not available from Krispy Kreme outlets in supermarkets.

How to get a free pint at BrewDog

Brewery and pub chain BrewDog is offering a free pint of Punk IPA (Indian pale ale) or Punk AF (alcohol-free) from any of its pubs on July 4.

“We’re toasting voters by giving out pints for everyone who heads to the polls,” a statement read. “Meet up with your mates. Argue about politics. Settle your differences over a free pint.”

However, voters must show evidence beyond what Krispy Kreme is asking for. You’ll need to present a selfie where you are standing outside a polling station.

If your selfie also includes a classic #dogsatpollingstations photo, there’s a treat in store for your four-legged friend when you visit too.
