General Election 2024: Nuneaton goes red as Labour win seat from Conservatives

Labour has seized the Nuneaton seat in Parliament after a 14 year Conservative reign. Earlier this morning (July 5) Jodie Gosling was declared as the new MP for Nuneaton, Arley and Hartshill.

She took the seat from Conservative Marcus Jones, who had been the town's MP for 14 years, and was hoping to make it is his fifth year.

But the Arley mum and business woman took the seat with 15,216 votes. Mr Jones polled 11,737.

Rob Howard, the Reform candidate, had 9,059 while Keith Kondakor, Green Party candidate, polled 2,894.

Joy Salaja, the Liberal Democrat candidate, polled 1,340 votes while John Homer, the Workers Party candidate polled 967 votes.

The turn-out was 57.51 per cent, way below the 64 per cent in the 2019 General Election.

There were a total 41,318 ballot papers issued out of an electorate of 71,843.
