The Watford Observer will be bringing live results and reaction from the General Election count in the constituency.

Following a long campaign, the seven candidates will find out whether they have been successful in their bid to become the town's MP in the early hours of tomorrow morning, with counts across the country taking place after polls close at 10pm tonight (July 4).

Reporter Fintan McGuinness will be at Watford Leisure Centre, by the town hall, from around 9.45pm bringing minute-by-minute reaction, commentary and updates in a live blog.

The winner is expected to be declared at around 3am while South West Hertfordshire results are expected at 3.45am, Hertsmere at 4am, and Hemel Hempstead's outcome should be known at 5am.

Watford, widely seen as a bellwether seat for electoral success, voted for the Conservative Party’s Dean Russell in 2019.

Mr Russell is seeking re-election while Arran Bowen-la Grange (Green Party), Gary James Ling (Reform), Khalid Chohan (Workers Party of Britain), Ian Stotesbury (Liberal Democrats), Matt Turmaine (Labour Party), and Sarah Jane Knott (Heritage Party – Freedom. Family. Nation) are also vying for votes.

Polls opened at 7am and voters must make sure to bring acceptable ID.
