General election: When are election results expected for Leicester and Leicestershire

Leicester and Leicestershire will go to the polls tomorrow along with the rest of the country. This General Election is stacking up to be a historic one, with a huge majority predicted for Labour and devastating losses for the Conservative Party.

Changes are also predicted across the city and county, with a number of new MPs expected to be announced tomorrow night. But when will people start to hear about the results?

Here is what you can expect:

Thursday, July 4, 7am to 10pm

Polling stations across the city and county open at 7am on Thursday, July 4, and close at 10pm. The name of the polling station will be on your poll card which you will have received through the post. Don't forget to bring photo ID with you when you go to vote.

If you chose to vote by post, your completed application will be sent to the count on the night. Polls close at 10pm. Once closed, the count will begin.

Overnight Thursday, July 4, into Friday, July 5

There are ten constituencies across the city and county whose votes need to be counted. This will happen overnight on Thursday, July 4, and continuing into the morning of Friday, July 5.

We are expecting the first results from Hinckley and Bosworth, who have said they anticipate the constituency's result to be declared around 3am. LeicestershireLive will be reporting live throughout the night, bringing you the results as they land.

Most areas have given an estimated time for when the count will be completed and the results will come in, but these are subject to change. Find out when your constituency is declaring below.
