George Clooney And Fiancee Get Marriage Licence

George Clooney and his fiancee Amal Alamuddin are one step closer to the altar after registering their marriage in London.

The couple have posted their banns at Chelsea Old Town Hall and the legal notice is now on display for anyone to see.

The notice, which must remain in place for 16 days before they can marry, lists the wedding's location as Italy.

The document gives the star's full name of George Timothy Clooney and lists his profession as "actor and director". Ms Alamuddin is listed as "barrister".

It is not known when they went to the town hall to get the licence, which lasts for 12 months.

The couple got engaged in April and are expected to marry near Clooney's waterfront property in Lake Como.

Ms Alamuddin is an Oxford-educated barrister who has represented WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and been described as a "passionate defender of human rights".

Clooney has previously been married to actress Talia Balsam and said that he would never marry again, despite being romantically involved with women including Lisa Snowdon, Stacy Keibler and Elisabetta Canalis.
