German tax estimates show jump in expected revenues; Finance Minister guarded

BERLIN (Reuters) - The German government can expect significantly higher tax revenues in the coming years than projected last November, updated official estimates showed on Thursday.

The fresh forecasts showed the federal government can expect 93.4 billion euros ($97.29 billion) in additional revenue in the period 2022 to 2026 compared to the November forecast.

However, Finance Minister Christian Lindner said the latest estimates came at a time of high uncertainty given the Ukraine war. "In any case, there is no reason and no leeway for new spending programmes," he added.
