Gigantic Kent Wetherspoons that’s like ‘Costa del Sol’ is one of the UK’s best
There’s no denying how big a part of British culture Wetherspoons has become. This iconic pub chain has risen to be a staple of Friday nights and weekend lunches everywhere, operating 869 different sites throughout the UK.
Here in Kent, we are blessed with 23 different 'Spoons branches, each with its own unique charms, but only one has been ranked among the UK’s very best. New data from Q.R. Code Generator found which Wetherspoons establishments from around the nation are the best reviewed, and the Royal Pavilion in Ramsgate placed among the top scorers.
The top 10 ranking was formed based on the average total percentage of excellent reviews on Google Reviews. Landing second place overall, the seaside boozer scored an impressive 58.48% excellent review rating.

Alongside this, the pub also recorded the second-highest number of Google reviews in the top 10, with 6,090. It fell only behind The Bishop Blaize in Manchester, which recorded an excellent review rating of 60.34% from 2,423 Google reviews.
Past punters have raved about their experiences at the Royal Pavilion, with many pointing towards its seaside vistas and the striking interior of this Grade II listed site among its standout features. One reviewer wrote alongside their five-star score: “The best Wetherspoons there is in my view.
"It overlooks the sea and on a sunny day sitting out on the balcony is just great. Food is always prompt and hot.” Another added: “Best spoons I’ve ever been to! Felt like I was in Costa del Sol hahaha. Perfect for a sunny day on the terrace.”
Beyond being Kent’s best-rated on Google, the Royal Pavilion is also notable for being the biggest Wetherspoons in the UK. Spanning a whopping 11,000 sq ft, the pub can cater up to 1,400 punters at one time across its two floors and outside terrace.
Following a £4.5 million renovation, the pub opened its doors in 2017, having stood disused and derelict for almost a decade prior. Originally a concert and assembly hall, the site itself dates back to 1903, with its grand interior said to have been inspired by the Little Theatre in Versailles.
Later in its life, the venue operated as a nightclub and then a casino, before closing its doors in 2008. It has since been kitted out with two bars, one on each floor, and the lower level also opens out to a ground-floor beachfront beer garden, ideal for soaking up some sun while enjoying a pint on the cheap.
