Last week Pantone revealed its colour of 2019: an orange hue with golden undertones called Living Coral.

The striking colour is set to infiltrate everything from interiors to catwalks over the next 12 months, with Pantone's predictions never failing to take the fashion circuit by storm, often featuring a few varieties of the 'it' shade.

Thought you had to wait until next year to see how it was going to work in your wardrobe? Wrong.

Ever the trendsetter, Gigi Hadid stepped out in New York wearing the bright orange hue from head-to-toe.

Wearing custom Ronald Van Der Kemp, the 23-year-old turned heads in the '90s-inspired look which featured dramatic lace-adorned flares and a matching shirt, held together by a single button for a risqué finish.

Gigi even added a second zesty layer with a Moschino trench coat, which she had stylishly draped over her shoulders.

The eye-popping look did not stop there.

The style icon also opted for a bold beauty look: a light dusting of burnt coral eyeshadow covering her lids.

The ensemble was definitely on the more vibrant end of the Living Coral spectrum, eschewing the warm tones of the hue in favour of a punchier version.

Indeed, Gigi's interpretation of the tone has been the predominant coral colour championed on the catwalks for spring/summer 2019, by the likes of Stella McCartney, Prabal Gurung, Moschino and Valentino.

This wouldn't be the first time fashionistas have experimented with Pantone's colour of the year.

2018's Ultra Violet made a subtle entry into the industry through a light lilac trend before evolving into full-on jewelled tones.

One thing is for sure, Gigi just gave us a sure-fire way to make an entrance in Living Coral next year.
