Gigi Hadid under fire for 'mocking' Asian people on Instagram

Gigi Hadid has left people seriously unhappy after allegedly “mocking Asian people” in a now-deleted Instagram post.

The supermodel appeared in her sister Bella Hadid’s Instagram story, seemingly squinting her eyes in a bid to look like a Buddha cake which was on the table.

Fans have been left unimpressed.

Following the backlash, Bella quickly deleted the snippet but it was too late, and after seeing the video thousands of outraged Twitter users took to social media to blast the star for the “insensitive” and “racist” display, blasting Gigi for “joking” about ethnic minorities:

This isn’t the first time that Gigi, who is dating Zayn Malik, has been accused of racism, previously being slammed for her controversial impression of Melania Trump.

The model was co-hosting last November’s American Music Awards and took the opportunity to poke fun at Melania shortly after her husband, Donald Trump, had been elected as President of the United States.

Making sure that she got “the face right”, Gigi said to the camera with a thick accent: “I love my husband, President Barack Obama, and our children, Sasha and Malia.”

Whilst the live audience laughed at the impression, viewers at home were less impressed and accused Gigi of “bullying” Melania because of her accent and her face.

Gigi eventually apologised for the impersonation, writing: “I apologise to anyone that I offended and have only the best wishes for our country”, but she is yet to acknowledge the backlash that her latest impression has received.
