Gigi Hadid's Met Gala Skirt Was So Big She Required 5 Handsome Handlers: See Her Show-Stopper
Hadid channeled old Hollywood glamour with a white off-the-shoulder Thom Browne gown featuring rose detailing
Gigi Hadid has made yet another memorable Met Gala appearance.
The model, 29, took the "Garden of Time" theme to heart as she donned a white off-the-shoulder Thom Browne gown featuring rose detailing. Hadid channeled old Hollywood glamour with a soft up-do and rosy beauty, including a bright red lip.
Her gown also featured an attached train that required about five handlers to fluff out as she posed on the red carpet. Like the top of her dress, the train featured even more yellow appliques and one quirky detail: it was in the shape of a tuxedo jacket — sleeves and all.
Even before hitting the Met steps, Hadid was the epitome of a flower girl as she was seen passing out yellow roses to fans outside her hotel before making her way to the event.
According to Vogue, the dress was no small feat as it took more than 70 people and over 13,500 hours to make by hand. It's also a once-and-a-lifetime ensemble as it will live in Browne’s permanent archive following the Met Gala, per the publication.
This year's Costume Institute exhibit will feature approximately 250 items — including 15 significant pieces, such as an 1877 Charles Frederick Worth silk satin ball gown — that span more than 400 years of history.
The dress code is heavily influenced by “The Garden of Time,” J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name as well as "fleeting beauty."
