Giovanna Fletcher to host new series encouraging gender equality at home

It’s safe to say that Giovanna Fletcher is a woman of many talents – an established author, popular YouTube vlogger, and an incredible singer and actress, all while juggling two young sons with her husband, McFly’s Tom Fletcher.

Still, Giovanna has added even more to her ever-growing resume after launching a new web series to encourage families to share the household chores.

Yes, Gi will be hosting a new AOL series in partnership with Indesit called ‘The Big Family Switch Up’, which will see a range of families swap their roles in a bid to get a better understanding of each other and consequently work better together.

We wonder if she tried this out with Tom at home?

‘The Big Family Switch Up’ comes after research discovered that there is growing gender inequality in British households, with the chores tending to revert back to stereotypes when a couple welcome their first baby.

In fact, it has been found that women do up to 81% of all household chores once they become mothers – and that’s on top of raising a tiny little human to boot.

Furthermore, 42% of men admitted to doing less around the house after welcoming a baby and 45% of women said that before having a child, running the home was a more equal job with chores being shared fairly between both them and their husbands.

The research was conducted by home appliance brand Indesit, who want to encourage family’s to #DoItTogether in their new campaign, with Brand Communications Director Ian Moverley explaining: “It’s surprising that in this day and age household chores still seem to end up with mum.

“We hope with this campaign we inspire families to help out a little more and have fun in the process. Our products are designed not only to be fast and efficient but easy to use so everyone can operate them!”
